Those who have not signed up for it, may call Mrs. Fox at 440-W today . . . President George Cooksey of the Tryon Chamber of Commerce states that about 75 Tryon civic leaders will go to Green Creek Tuesday night to have dinner with the Green ! Creek Community Club. President O. H. Bowers of the Green Creek club says there will be about 200 people for the goodwill meeting. ... Gilloghy, Wilmette, 111. STEEPLECHASE RESULTS Several thousand spectators saw what was termed the best steeple chase races ever held m Tryon Saturday at the A. D. Plamondon Block House course. Carter P. Brown, George Webster and other members of the Tryon Riding & .Hunt Club, sponsors of the races were highly pleased over the at tendance and performances of everything connected with the event. All the programs for sale by the Girl Scouts were sold out giving an indication of the attend ance and interest. A little shower just before the last race made the day perfect for riders and horses. A heavy rain started in a few minutes after the last race was over. Winners in the races with horse, owner and rider in that order, were as follows: I he March Hare (about two miles- over brush course) : First, “Mammission”,' owned and ridden by C. Jelke; second, “Ginny Bug”, H. S. Nichols, D. Murphy; third, “Irish Double,” A. E. Pew Jr., F. Dooley Adams; fourth, “Erin’s Cottage,” Mrs. M,. G. Walsh. C. Cameron. Time 3:15. Second race, The Pacolet Plate,” (flat race). Won by “Tony” owned by Walter Newman and ridden by Carroll Edney. Third race. The North Carolina Hunt Cup, $500 purse. (About 3 miles over timber) : First, “Tem per Red” owned and ridden by C. W. Stitzer; second, “Happv Quest”, owned and ridden by C. Jelke; third, “Haywire”, Mrs. C. Musett, owner. D. Murphy, trainer.
